Online quiz competition for students

The Hindu In School is designed to help students use the newspaper as an education tool to enhance awareness on a wide range of topics, sensitise them to contemporary issues, develop critical thinking skills and the reading habit. It is conducting an interschool online quiz contest in association with Jayam Academy.

Established in 1970 by R. Janardhanan, a reputed Mathematics teacher in north Chennai, the academy has till date trained 55,000 students through its coaching programmes.

The contest tests the intelligence of students in Mathematics, Science, Reasoning and General Knowledge.

It is open to all students from classes VI to XII and is classified into three categories:

1. Classes VI to VIII, 2. Classes IX and X and 3. Classes XI and XII.

The test will include a judicious mix of 30 questions, testing skills in the above-mentioned subjects and it is limited to 30 minutes only.

The winner in each category gets a prize worth 12,500.

The 1st runner-up gets gifts worth 7,500 and the 2nd runner-up gets gifts worth 5,000.

The registration and contest date has been extended to September 5, 2016 for the benefit of participants.
