The Young India Project! Amnesty International

Ever since Amnesty’s inception, young people have played a key role in Amnesty International’s national and global campaigning (our most recent examples: Troll Patrol India, My Body Rights and Stop Torture). Young people will continue to contribute to our vision of a world in which every person enjoys all human rights and affirms the dignity of all people. Far from being mere bystanders, young people are agents of change!

As the COVID-19 pandemic marks a new death record every day, young people are confined to their homes. They have not only lost the public spaces to express themselves, today’s ‘Young India’ is also witnessing a brutal crackdown as protest organizers are being punished under repressive and draconian laws like the UAPA and sedition.

A Project To Reach Young India
Without a shadow of a doubt, young people have the capacity to become agents of change. As witnessed in the anti-CAA protests, young people can peacefully organize, mobilize and spread hope, while they demand change. Nearly a 100 years ago, Mahatma Gandhi had spread similar ideas of non-violent protests through an English journal called ‘Young India’, covering various aspects of India’s freedom struggle and his own arrest under the sedition law in 1922.

If you believe in a ‘Young India’ where peaceful dissent is essential, and that it is your duty to challenge unfair laws and demand the release of those who have been wrongfully imprisoned, join this project!

Application closing date: 20 August, 2020

Amnesty International India’s definition of youth is 18-30, only applications by individuals in this age bracket [and Indian nationals] will be considered for this project.

Upon completion, a certificate of participation will be provided by Amnesty International India.
