The Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre, LPSC, headquartered at Valiamala Thiruvananthapuram is one of the lead Centres of ISRO and develops propulsion systems for Launch vehicles and Satellites. It has played significant role in ISRO’s journey towards excellence by supplying almost three-fourth of the propulsion systems. The development of work horse engines using liquid propellants and highly efficient, eco-friendly cryogenic propulsion for launch vehicles are commendable examples. Apart from the flawless propulsion of all the satellites into the destined orbit, the Liquid Apogee Motor developed by LPSC had propelled ISRO into new horizons in space by giving the essential finishing touch to the historic Chandrayaan-1 mission and the prestigious Mars Orbiter Mission. By venturing into the development of the low-cost engine using refined kerosene as the fuel and by qualifying the promising electric propulsion, LPSC reiterates its commitment to the nation and spearheads ISRO’s future programmes.
In connection with its Pearl Jubilee (30th Anniversary) celebrations, LPSC organizes various outreach programmes throughout the country for the benefit of the common public, with prime focus on the student community.
