YLAC High School Achievers Programme

Founded in 2016, Young Leaders for Active Citizenship (YLAC) aims to increase the participation of young people in the policymaking process and build their capacity to lead change.

The High School Achievers program is a one of its kind summer program designed to help young adults become active agents of change in their communities. It is a unique opportunity for students in grades 9th to 12th to broaden their perspective, interact with thought leaders from diverse backgrounds and create social impact by working on live projects for partner organizations.

The program is highly selective and receives a large number of outstanding applications from a diverse pool of candidates. Sessions engage students in intriguing debates and help explore the interconnected nature of knowledge, all the while using a participatory and experiential pedagogy that makes learning fun. First launched in 2016, the program will run in four cities in 2020 – three in India (Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru) and one in UAE (Dubai).

Applications to the 2020 editions of the program are currently open. The program is divided into two modules: Module I (YLAC sessions) and Module II (live NGO project supervised by YLAC). Depending on the modules being offered in a city, candidates can opt for either Module I or Module I and II together.

Note: COVID-19

At this time, all 2020 editions of the program are expected to be run as planned, i.e. between the months of May to July. Having said that, we are keeping a close watch on the spread of COVID-19 and shall send an update to all candidates in case of any changes.

In the unfortunate case that the program has to be cancelled, YLAC we will refund the full fee to all enrolled students.

The program is divided into two modules: Module I (YLAC sessions) and Module II (live NGO project supervised by YLAC). In Delhi, Module I sessions will be held at Zorba the Buddha on the Mehrauli Gurgaon Road near the Ghitorni metro station and Module II sessions at a co-working place in Defence Colony, with some travel for field visits.
