Physical Research Laboratory (PRL), an autonomous unit of the Department of Space, Government of India, conducts basic research in the areas of Astronomy, Astrophysics, Solar Physics, Earth, Planetary & Space Atmospheric Sciences, Atomic, Molecular & Optical Physics and Theoretical Physics. The Laboratory has several world-class experimental and computing facilities spread over its four campuses at Navrangpura and Thaltej, Ahmedabad, Infrared Observatory at Mt. Abu, and Solar Observatory at Udaipur.
Applications are invited from academically outstanding and highly motivated post-graduate students and college teachers of the Indian Nationality for the Summer Internship Programme to be held at Physical Research Laboratory from May 11 to July 10, 2020. Under this program, those interested in a research career after post-graduation may avail an opportunity to spend about eight weeks during summer at PRL. The participants will work on a specific project in association with a faculty member of the institute and can participate in other scientific activities such as seminars, colloquia etc.

- B.Tech. (in applied sciences) / B.Sc./ B.S. / B.S.-M.S. / M.Sc. / M.Sc. (Integrated) / M.Sc. (Tech.)/M.Tech. (applied sciences) students of Physics, Applied Physics, Astronomy & Astrophysics, Optics/Applied Optics, Laser Physics, Space Physics, Geology, Geophysics, Atmospheric Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Meteorology, Chemistry, Ocean Sciences, and related subjects.

-Students in M.Sc. - First Year, Integrated M.Sc. - 3rd and 4th Year, B.Sc. 3rd year*/ B.Tech.*/ B.S.* 3rd/final year/ B.S.-M.S.* 4th/final year, are only eligible to apply.
*Preference will be given to candidates who are KVPY/DST INSPIRE fellows and no FELLOWSHIP from PRL will be paid to such candidates.
- We expect prospective candidates to have a reasonably good proficiency in basic physics and mathematics..
- A minimum of 60% marks at both Bachelor’s and Master’s level are required for all candidates.
- The Summer Internship Programme is open for students studying in Indian Universities/Institutes.

Please note that the students studying in any discipline of engineering are not eligible to apply in this program.

IRDAI proposes to offer internship to students who are pursuing Graduate and Post graduate courses or Research from reputed universities and educational institutions during the Summer recess.

IISER Thiruvananthapuram offers a two-month visiting students programme during summer 2020 to enable motivated students to work with IISER faculty. Bachelors and Masters students in science/engineering with an inclination towards research in basic sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics) are invited to apply for the programme.

IISER Bhopal invites applications from students interested in attending a short summer camp from May 11 - 16, 2020 in Bhauri, Bhopal. Students who would be studying in classes IX, X, XI as on May 2020 can apply. The summer camp will consist of interactive lectures, along with the exposure to laboratory work guided by IISER faculty members. Our efforts are to make science interesting, exciting and intriguing for the participants and to contribute to the overall understanding of how and why things work like they do. The objective of this program is to inculcate in students an aptitude to appreciate the role and contribution of science in the betterment of mankind. The program has been designed to create harmony between learning and applying scientific knowledge towards the development of society with a mission to foster a new generation of scientists who are inspired to improve the world with Science. To facilitate homogeneous interaction between the students and faculty members, the seats are limited. After initial screening, the shortlisted candidates would have to pay a registration fee of Rs. 2000/- only. The registration fee will include food and lodging expenses for the participants. A doctor will be made available on campus (24 hours) to ensure personal health and well-being of all the candidates.

The Centre aims to create scientific awareness among children through play models. Apart from various programmes using the facilities of the Centre, there are seminars, quiz programs, visits to research institutions, University departments, industries etc. Students can do projects using the facilities of the Centre. The Child Scientist's Forum which meets twice in every month for the full year is another opportunity for the young scientists to get practical knowledge through seminars, projects, short visits to University departments etc. In One Day Attachment Programme (ODAP), the students can come to the Centre with their teachers to spend the whole day. The computer awareness and household technology course for the public is a two month-course by which any one can learn basic computer functions.

The Science Talent Development Programme(STDP) - CUSAT

Every summer, a large number of talented interns come to IIST to work with faculty on interesting short term projects. Students at various stages in BTech, BS-MS, MSc, and other programmes from reputed institutions like IITs and IISERs come to IIST for summer internships.

The summer internships of 2020 does not have fellowships. However, boarding and lodging will be provided at nominal rates of Rs 125 and Rs 25 respectively, per day. Interns also have to pay a nominal amount of Rs 100 towards certain administrative charges, at the time they join for internship. Each intern will have a temporary identity card which would enable them to access various facilities in IIST. Interns will be provided certificates for completed internships.

This year, summer internship period in IIST is from 18 May to 10 July 2020.
