Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) 2021 - Apply Now

The Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) is an on-going National Program of Fellowship in Basic Sciences, initiated and funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, to attract exceptionally highly motivated students for pursuing basic science courses and research career in science.

The objective of the program is to identify students with talent and aptitude for research; help them realize their academic potential; encourage them to take up research careers in Science, and ensure the growth of the best scientific minds for research and development in the country.

Selection of the students is made from those studying in XI standard to 1st year of any undergraduate Program in Basic Sciences namely B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./M.S. in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology having aptitude for scientific research. Special groups / Committees are set up at IISc to screen the applications and conduct an aptitude test at various centres in the country. Based on the performance in the aptitude test, short-listed students are called for an interview which is the final stage of the selection procedure. For receiving a fellowship, both aptitude test and interview marks are considered.

Generous fellowships are provided up to the pre-Ph.D. level to the selected KVPY Fellows.

Eligibility
The KVPY Fellowships are given to Indian Nationals only to Study in India (Students intending to pursue/pursing under graduate program under Distance Education scheme/correspondence course of any university are not eligible to apply).

Students enrolled in an undergraduate course in Basic Sciences, that is, B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./M.S. in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Cell Biology, Ecology, Molecular Biology, Botany, Zoology, Physiology, Biotechnology, Neurosciences, Bioinformatics, Marine Biology, Geology, Human Biology, Genetics, Biomedical Sciences, Applied Physics, Geophysics, Materials Science or Environmental Science.

•Eligibility for Stream SA: Due to prevailing COVID-19 situation, as one-time measure, students who have passed X Standard Board Examination and eligible to enroll in XI Standard (Science Subjects) during the academic year 2021-22, are eligible to appear for the aptitude test. The student should produce a study certificate of XI class once they are selected as a provisional KVPY fellow. Moreover, the fellowship of the students selected under this stream will be activated only if they join for an under graduate course in Basic Science (B. Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./ Int. M.Sc./ Int. M.S.) in the academic year 2023-24 after having secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST & PWD) marks in aggregate in SCIENCE Subjects in the XII Standard Board Examination. During the interim period of one year they will be invited for the National Science Camp (Vijyoshi) and their travel expenses and local hospitality will be met by KVPY.

•Eligibility for Stream SX: Students enrolled in XII Standard (Science Subjects) during the academic year 2021–22 and aspiring to join undergraduate program in Basic Sciences (B.Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./ Int. M.Sc./ Int. M.S.) during the academic year 2022–23. The Fellowship of the students selected under this stream will be activated only if they join for an undergraduate course in Basic Science (B.Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./ Int. M.Sc./ Int. M.S.) in the academic year 2022-23 after having secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST & PWD) marks in aggregate in SCIENCE subjects in the XII standard Board Examination.

•Eligibility for Stream SB: Due to prevailing COVID-19 situation, as one-time measure, students who have passed XII Board Examination and eligible to enroll in the 1st year of B. Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./ Int. M.Sc./ Int. M.S. during the academic year 2021–22 are eligible to appear for the aptitude test. The student should produce a study certificate of 1st year B. Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./ Int. M.Sc./ Int. M.S. once they are selected as a provisional KVPY fellow. Moreover, the fellowship of the students selected under this stream will be activated only if they join an undergraduate program in Basic Science (B. Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./ Int. M.Sc./ Int. M.S.) in the academic year 2021-22 and secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST & PWD) marks in aggregate in Science Subjects in 1 styear of B.Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./Int. M.Sc./Int. M.S.


Empowerment initiative in the KVPY Fellowship Program:

A certain number of additional fellowships exclusively for the students belonging to SC/ST community under the various streams as stated above will be operated.
A certain number of fellowships under various streams as stated above will be operated exclusively for students under the category of Persons With Disability (Physically and Visually Challenged).

GENERAL INFORMATION: 
Applications are invited from Indian Nationals. However, as per the interim order (Final Order awaited) of the Hon’ble High Court of Karnataka OCI/PIO Students will be allowed to write the KVPY Aptitude Test 2021. 
The KVPY fellowship is available to the students who have enrolled as a regular student of UG Program in Basic Science course in any College/Institution of a University recognized in India. 
An extended merit list of approximately 5,000 candidates will be prepared in addition to the list of KVPY fellows. Rank certificates will be available to the candidates in the extended list. However, the candidates in the extended list are not eligible for KVPY fellowship. 
Students may apply Online at http://www.kvpy.iisc.ac.in by clearly indicating the stream (i.e., SA/SX/SB). 
APPLICATION FEE: For General category Rs. 1,250/- (Rupees one thousand two hundred and fifty only) and Rs. 625/- (Rupees six hundred twenty five only) for Students belonging to SC/ST/Persons With Disabilities. Application fee once paid will not be refunded. 
KVPY reserves the right to postpone the aptitude test due to any reason, including the prevailing situation arising from the COVID19 pandemic. 
A computer based online version of the aptitude Test will be conducted at the selected cities.

Also, the program offers full tuition fee scholarship for graduation degree at member institutions.
 
Eligibility: For SAT fee discount, the applicant must be an Indian resident with an annual family income less than 10L and must be studying in class 11 or 12. To be considered eligible for a full college tuition scholarship, the applicant's family income should be below INR 4L p.a. S. N. BOSE SCHOLARS PROGRAM

To nurture future innovators and thought leaders, the Science & Engineering Board (SERB), Department of Science and Technology (DST), Govt. of India, the Indo-U.S. Science and Technology Forum (IUSSTF) and WINStep Forward have partnered to develop a dynamic and transformative student exchange program between premier institutions in India and the United States. The program is named in honor of Satyendra Nath Bose (1894 - 1974),a visionary Indian physicist best known for his work on quantum mechanics in the early 1920s. The class of particles that obey Bose-Einstein statistics, Bosons, was named after him.

The program is envisaged to:

provide an opportunity to Indian students to experience world-class research facilities in leading U.S. institutions;
encourage and motivate students to take up research as a career;
pave the way for the next generation of pioneers and innovators in science and technology to interact with each other, and;
build long-term R&D linkages and collaborations cutting across boundaries around the globe.

Eligibility Details:

Candidates currently enrolled in a Bachelors or Masters’ degree in Atmospheric and earth Sciences; Chemical Sciences; Engineering; Mathematical and Computational Sciences; and, Physical Sciences are eligible to apply.PhD students are NOT eligible to apply.
Applications in subject - fields other than those specified in the advertisement will not be considered.
Only those candidates who shall be completing their degree program on or after May 2018 are eligible to apply.
This year applications are accepted through nominations/endorsements only.
The departments from each institute have been asked to nominate 2 of their beststudents from each discipline for the program.
Two applications per stream, per department, per institute. For this purpose, for example, the usual two years Masters in physics and Integrated Masters in Physics may be counted as 2 different streams and 2 different applications.

Snehapoorvam Scholarship scheme by Social Welfare Department for orphaned children

Kerala Government has launched a noble initiative “SNEHAPOORVAM” as per the G.O (MS) No.36/2012/SWD dated 06/06/12 to provide financial support to orphans who are living in the family, with their relatives, friends, or the support of the community under the Social welfare Department implemented through Social Security Mission. The mission has initiated the project that aims at bringing these children to the main stream of the society.

OBJECTIVES OF THE SCHEME

To identify the orphaned children in the community
To assess and priorities children in the greatest need
To provide social protection to highly vulnerable groups of orphans by strengthening traditional family and community systems for protecting and absorbing orphans
To improve the basic education, social integration and nutrition of the most vulnerable groups of orphans towards the levels of other children in the community
To encourage the families to live their children within the family set up rather than sending them to orphanages
To extend a helping hand to these orphans families by way of providing financial assistance to the education of children.

AMOUNT OF ASSISTANCE

Children below 5 years and class I to V @ Rs.300/pm
For class VI to class X @ Rs 500/pm
For class XI and class XII @ Rs 750/pm
During this year the Government has issued orders to extend the scheme to the beneficiaries who are studying for Degree/professional courses. The rate of assistance per month is Rs. 1000/-.

The Head of Institutions only can apply on behalf of the students. Applications will not be accepted directly from the students or parents.

5th Scholarship For Excellence In English 2015-16

Science Olympiad Foundation and the British Council.
Under SEE, a scholarship of `5000/ each plus a Merit Certificate is given to 120 students in India in recognition of their excellence in English language,
SALIENT FEATURES OF S.E.E.
1. The S.E.E. is a one time scholarship.
 2. Under S.E.E., 120 school students from across India will be selected.
3. The selection of the S.E.E. winners will be done from recommendations sent by schools.
4. Each selected student will be awarded a scholarship of `5000/ & a Merit Certificate as a recognition of her/his excellence in English language.
5. Cheque for the amount, in favor of the selected student, will be dispatched at the school address. CRITERIA FOR SELECTION
1. A school may send a proposal recommending a student for consideration under S.E.E. The school must be a participant in the IEO being held in Jan, 2016.
 2. Each school may recommend only one student.
3. Recommendation should be signed by the school Principal / Head Master / Head Mistress only.
4. Recommendation should be in the specified format (enclosed) and complete in all respects/with required attachments.
5. The student being Recommended must be studying in the recommending school in class Three to class Ten.
6. The student should have scored at least 90% marks or equivalent grade in English subject in annual aggregate in previous class.
7. Student should have scored at least 85% or equivalent grades in previous year’s exams as aggregate.
8. All Recommendations received will be evaluated by a Committee set up by SOF.
9. Winners of S.E.E. will be notified individually and through respective schools.
10. Decision of the SOF Committee will be final and binding. 11. In case of any dispute, jurisdiction will vest with Delhi courts only.
12. Recommendations under 5th S.E.E. should reach by 31 Dec 2015, at the National Office of Science Olympiad Foundation.
