Name and Mascot Design Competition for Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail

National High-Speed Rail Corporation Ltd (NHSRCL) is a joint venture between Govt. of India (through ministry of railways) and participating state governments (Gujarat & Maharashtra).
NHSRCL is mandated to build India’s first high speed rail (commonly known as Bullet Train) between Mumbai & Ahmedabad.

With the construction of High-Speed rail corridor, India will join the elite club of 15 nations having this sophisticated technology within our reach. This project will bring a world-class cutting-edge technology to the service of this nation along with the transfer of technology from Japan.
Mumbai – Ahmedabad High Speed Rail will cover distance of 508 Km in approximately three hours while covering twelve stations in Maharashtra, Gujarat and Union territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli.

The High-Speed Rail (HSR) project apart from being a technological marvel, would afford many quantifiable benefits like saving in travel time, vehicle operation cost, reduction in pollution, job creation, reduction in accidents/ enhanced safety, imported fuel substitution, and reduction in pollutants. The project will also boost the infrastructure and add to the growth of economy.

NHSRCL is organizing a contest for the name and mascot for India’s first high speed train. Name and Mascot should represent the true nature of high speed rail and all the socio-economic benefits that will come with the introduction of this technology in India.

There will be two separate entries for
1) Train name
2) Mascot design

The selected entry will be awarded a cash prize and five consolation entries will be awarded as follows
a) Mascot design: Winning prize: INR 1,00,000/- and five consolation prize for INR 10,000/- each
b) Train set name: Winning prize: INR 50,000/- and five consolation prize for INR 5,000/- each

The last date of submission is 25th March, 2019.

Designing of a Mascot for Postal Life Insurance / Rural Postal Life Insurance

As part of brand building exercise of PLI / RPLI, it is proposed to design a Mascot for PLI I RPLI. Most of Corporate brands world over are represented by a Mascot. A case in example is Air India, whose mascot is the Maharajah (Emperor). Air India adopted the Maharajah as its mascot in 1946. It was used in promoting the Air India brand, although initially designed only for the airline's memo-pads. The Maharajah has recently been given an image makeover in 2015 and the brand is represented by a younger version. On similar lines, as part of exercise to build brand PLI / RPLI, it is being contemplated to design a Mascot for PLI / RPLI.

Entries are invited from members of the public for Mascot Design Competition of PLI/RPLI. The participants are to make an original design on this subject (should not be copy of an artwork designed by someone else). The design should be accompanied on a brief statement (approx. 200 words) on the proposed mascot design.

Eligibility
Any citizen of India can participate in this design contest. The design could be in ink, water colour, oil colour or any other medium (Computer printed/printout will not be allowed).

Guidelines

The design submitted should be such, that can be depicted as a Mascot in a visually appealing manner so as to be of interest to the target customers of PLI / RPLI.
Participants are free to use drawing paper, art paper or any other type of white paper of 1\4 size.
Following particulars should be written legibly on the reverse of the design:
 l. Name ofthe participant*
2. Age*
3· Gender
4· Nationality*
5· Full and complete residential address with Pin
Code*
6. Phone/Mobile Number*
7· E-mail ID *
* The fields are mandatory.

An undertaking stating that the artwork submitted is original and no copyright issues are involved should be sent along with the artwork. A copy of the Undertaking to be furnished by all participants is attached below. Entries without such an undertaking will liable to be rejected summarily. 

The design should be sent through "Speed Post" only, in 1\4 size envelope. The participants should mention "Mascot Design Competition" on the envelope in which the artwork is sent. 

All the entries will be evaluated by a Committee duly constituted for the purpose. The prize-winning designs will be considered for developing Mascot of PLI / RPLI.

The prize money will be as follows: - 
First prize              Rs 25,000
Second prize         Rs 15,000
Third prize (two in number)   Rs 5,000 each

All entries should reach the following address by 03.10.2017. 
The entries received after last date of receipt will not be entertained.

‘Sayani Rani’ used to be the mascot of ‘Jago Grahak Jago’ campaign since long. However, there have been views to have different mascot for the campaign.It is therefore proposed to get mascot(s) developed on the theme of “Consumer is King/Queen”. The mascot expression can be that of a confident consumer, inquisitive consumer, protesting consumer and counselling consumer,etc. This Department is therefore organizing a mascot designing contest on the theme of “Consumer is King/Queen”.

Submission of Entries:-

• The last date for submission of entries would be 20th August, 2017.
• The entries should be original work of the participant(s) and must not infringe the Intellectual Property Rights of any third party.
• An entry could be an individual or a team project.
• Every entry should be accompanied by a brief explanation. An individual can send multiple entries.
• The results will be placed on the website of the Department tentatively within 8 weeks from the last date of receiving the entries

Prizes would be as follows:

1st Prize: Rs. 50,000 and a certificate of appreciation
2nd Prize: Rs. 25,000 and a certificate of appreciation
3rd Prize: Rs. 10,000 and a certificate of appreciation

Eligibility
The Competition is open to all citizens of India upto the age of 28 years only.

Guidelines
The entries must be submitted in JPG/PDF/PNG format only. File should be of high resolution–at least 300 pixels per inch at 100% size. The submission will be accepted in either Hindi or English languages.

The Department of Consumer Affairs runs a “Jago Grahak Jago” multimedia campaign to create awareness amongst consumers about their rights, redressal mechanisms available to them as well as their duties. “Jago Grahak Jago” tagline is a household term now. The entire population of the country is consumer someway or the other. Creating awareness among the vast population of the country is always a challenge. With active participation of the citizens of the country, this Department can meet the challenge. To better understand the issues being faced by the present day consumers and the multimedia campaign being carried out by this Department so far.
