COVID Crisis Support Scholarship

COVID Crisis Support Scholarship program is an initiative of Buddy4Study India Foundation to support children who are left vulnerable and with very little or no financial support for their further education owing to a COVID-led crisis (family or financial) in their family. 

Since early 2020, COVID has devastated many families in India. With 2.38 lakh deaths (till 8th May 2021) due to COVID-19, India is going through the biggest disaster of the century where lakhs of families are devastated and facing a crisis for the lifetime. HDFC Bank invites applications from students studying in Class 6 to post-graduation level. The scholarship supports meritorious and needy students belonging to underprivileged sections of the society. It will be given either on the basis of merit-cum-means or family/personal crisis.

Eligibility:
The scholarship is open for Indian nationals only. The students must be studying in any of the standards between Class 6 to 12, Diploma, Undergraduate or Postgraduate (including professional and non-professional courses) level. For merit-cum-means based scholarship, the students must have passed their previous qualifying examination with at least 55% marks and their annual family income must be less than or equal to INR 2.5 lakh. Summer Outreach Camp 2020 - IISER Bhopal

IISER Bhopal invites applications from students interested in attending a short summer camp from May 11 - 16, 2020 in Bhauri, Bhopal. Students who would be studying in classes IX, X, XI as on May 2020 can apply. The summer camp will consist of interactive lectures, along with the exposure to laboratory work guided by IISER faculty members.   • Participants will be given three weeks to complete the experiment and submit the observation log book to School.
  • Finalists to the championship will be informed and will be invited to participate in the regional championship.
  • Winners will be selected from the Regional Science Championship for each category and awards will be distributed.

19th International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer - Competitions for School Students

International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer is observed on 16th September in each year to commemorate the date on which Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer was signed in 1987. This International Day offers an opportunity to focus global attention and action on this vital environmental issue.
To create greater awareness among the students to protect the Ozone Layer, different competitions for the school students are arranged each year with active participation of the schools.
 
Date: August 26 & 27, 2013; Reporting Time: 8.30 hrs
Duration of Competition: 9.00 hrs to 17.00 hrs
Venue: The Stein Auditorium, India Habitat Centre (IHC), Lodhi Road, New Delhi- 110003

Competitions
This year, there will be six different competitions on the theme ‘Protection of the Ozone Layer’ for the school students in the age group of 13 to 17 years. The different categories of the competitions are:
1. Poster Design : Drawing sheet (3 best entries)
2. Painting : Drawing sheet (3 best entries)
3. Slogan Writing : (3 best entries)
4. Model Making : (1 best entry)
5. Quiz on Ozone Science: Written (Max. 3 students–Individual entry)
6. Skit Competition : 15 minutes (not more than 5 students)

Participation of Students
In general, the competitions of Painting, Poster Design, Model Making and Slogan Writing will be arranged by the respective schools and the nominated entries of the schools will be displayed at the venue for evaluation on August 26, 2013. The Written Quiz on Ozone Science will be held on August 27, 2013 and Skit of 15 Minutes will be arranged at the venue on August 26 & 27, 2013.
Only school nominated students will be allowed to participate in the competitions.
Last date of receiving nominations is August 19, 2013 and nomination received after last date will not be entertained.
For active participation, schools are requested to nominate students early in advance and make necessary arrangement for the participation of their students at the venue on August 26 & 27, 2013

Nomination Procedures
Individual competitions for each of the above categories will be arranged  at the school level by the school authorities through a transparent selection process.
Based on the internal competitions, respective school should shortlist/select 3 best entries in each categories of Painting, Poster Design, and Slogan Writing and intimate about nominated entries and
send along with the Paintings, Posters, and Slogans before the last date i.e. August 19, 2013.
* In skit competition only one team from each school will be entertained for participating in the competition
For the Model Making each school may shortlist 1 best entry and the shortlisted model can be represented by max. 2 students. Schools are advised to bring the Model on the date of competition i.e. August 26, 2013.
For the Written Quiz on Ozone Science and Skit of 15 Minutes, school should nominate their participants (maximum 3 students for quizindividual entry and 5 students for Skit Competition*).
School should use the given Format (Nomination Form) for nominating the entries. The nominated entries of Paintings, Posters, and Slogans should have proper label fixed at the back. The label must legible and should contain the following basic information and preferably it should have the official seal of the school:
1. Name of Student :
2. Class:
3. Age:
4. Name of the School:
5. Contact Number of School:
All nominations for Painting, Poster, Slogan, Model Making, Quiz and Skit competition should be sent to the given contact address before August 19, 2013.

Best Entries and Awards
The available entries of Paintings, Posters, Models and Slogans received from schools will be displayed at the venue on August 26, 2013 and a Panel of Judges will evaluate the entries for 1st, 2nd and 3rd position.
The Written Quiz on Ozone Science will be arranged on August 27, 2013 and Skit of 15 Minutes on August 26 & 27, 2013 at the venue and results will be finalized accordingly by the judges. The nominated teams for skit competition will be informed by the Ozone Cell regarding the date for their competition after receiving the nomination form.
Winners of different categories will be intimated within two week of the competition and  Prize/Certificate will be awarded on September 16, 2013 by the Chief Guest of the Function.

Note:  In skit competition only one team from each school will be entertained for participating in the competition

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) along with the International  Mathematical Community have brought forward the idea of Mathematics of Planet Earth (MPE) – 2013. The fascinating world of Mathematics provides us an unlimited scope to perceive problems  under three situations - concrete, abstract and intuition. The important segment of mathematics- the  ability to reason and think clearly is extremely useful in every aspect of life. Mathematics is a  powerful way of investigating and understanding the world.


The Department of Education in Science and Mathematics (DESM), NCERT New Delhi, is organizing “Exhibit Competition” on this occasion.

How to Participate

Anyone may develop a  virtual or physical exhibit on the  topics/themes of mathematics which should be related to planet earth. Supporting documents like complete write up, clear audiovideo presentation, poster or graphic presentation, etc. should be submitted in digital form latest by 10 July 2013 to the following address.

Udayan Shalini Fellowships

Udayan in Sanskrit signifies 'eternal sunrise'. Shalini means 'a dignified woman'. Udayan Shalini Fellowships is  an academic excellence and personality development  programme for girls from weak socio-economic  backgrounds. It provides financial assistance for higher education, mentoring and leadership development  through workshops, while facilitating a sense of social responsibility and aims to turn them into dignified  women..   This programme, which focuses on Education and Personality Development of its recipients, was launched in
August 2002. Currently, it covers Delhi (2002), Kurukshetra (2004), Kolkata & Dehradun (2007), Aurangabad  (2008) and Phagwara (2012).

ELIGIBILITY:-
1. Female Indian citizen, permanent resident of Delhi / Kurukshetra / Kolkata / Dehradun / Aurangabad & Phagwara.  
2. Candidates are required to obtain admission to the desired school, prior to seeking Fellowship.
3. The applicant should be in class 11 th  from Government school.
 4.  Minimum marks required for academic courses are 60% in class 10 th .
5. Total income of the family members/ guardian not to exceed Rs. 96, 000/- per year. 

SELECTION PROCESS:-
• Application to be made on the prescribed form. Last date of the receipt of form is 31 st  July. Application  forms can be collected from our office or downloaded from our website (www.udayancare.org) from 1 st July onwards.
• All applications shall be screened on NAT Parameters.
• Short-listed candidates shall be called for a written test by the selection committee. Venue of written test for  Delhi: Mahavir Senior Model School, Opp. Nanak Piao Gurudwara, G. T. Karnal Road, Delhi  110033. For the other state, kindly contact to respective offices.
• Those who qualify the written test are interviewed along with their parents / guardian.
• Home visit will be conducted for those who qualify in the interview
• Those selected would be called for induction and orientation.
• The selection will be done by the Udayan Shalini Fellowship core committee
FELLOWSHIP AMOUNT: 
• Senior Secondary School (Class 11th  & 12th  ) Rs.8000/- per year in four equal installments

Google Science Fair 2012

Google is looking for the brightest young scientists from around the world to submit interesting, creative projects that are relevant to the world today. The Google Science Fair is an online science competition open to all students aged 13 to 18 from around the world.
Registration
Registration is free. Students can sign up to enter the competition from 12 January 2012 by visiting google.com/sciencefair and clicking the blue "Start your project" button at the top of the screen.  You will need a Google Account in order to register and to create your Science Fair project site.
Who Can Register
The competition is open to all full-time students and home schooled students aged 13 to 18 (14-18 in Spain and South Korea, 16-18 in the Netherlands), from around the world. Students may enter as individuals or as teams of up to three. You need to have been born:
  • on or after 2 April 1993
  • on or before 12 January 1999
This is a global competition and students from all over the world can enter. However, the Competition is not open to residents of Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, Myanmar/Burma, Syria, Zimbabwe and any other U.S. sanctioned country and is void where prohibited by law. The competition is also void in Brazil.
Parental Consent is required.

Categories
There are three categories for the competition:
  • 13 to 14 year olds
  • 15 to 16 year olds
  • 17 to 18 year olds

The Project
A science project is an in-depth investigation of a scientific question that involves forming a hypothesis, testing your hypothesis with an experiment, making your observations, drawing conclusions and presenting the findings. Students can choose a topic from the categories given. The students will have to build the science fair project site at google.

The Prizes
The prizes include once-in-a-lifetime experiences like a scientific trip to the Galapagos Islands with National Geographic Expeditions, unique scholarships and real-life work opportunities in iconic science centers of excellence like CERN in Switzerland.

This year there will also be a special Science in Action prize sponsored by Scientific American which will be awarded to a project that addresses a social, environmental, ethical, health or welfare issue to make a practical difference to the lives of a group or community.

Gurukul Anubhav scholarship scheme 2012 has been announced for the youth between 14 years and 26 years of age. Through the scholarship scheme,  SPIC MACAY makes an attempt to bring the students closer to a world of wisdom, inspiration,  dreams, discovery and exploration for a period of one month. A unique Gurukul Anubhav for some of the selected candidates as  part of this whole plan, where 5-6 prominent Gurus will be taken to an Ashram (Chinmaya Vibhuti)  near Pune, to stay there with their selected candidates for one month. In the serene environment  of the Ashram, spending exclusive time with their Gurus, candidates will get an elevated and  intense experience. Around 10 candidates will be selected for each Guru. Expected Gurus for this  exclusive scheme will be: Shri Kalamandalam Gopi for Kathakalii, Padmasri Ustad Fariduddin  Dagar for Hindustani Dhrupad vocal, Padma Vibhushan Pandit Birju Maharaj / Guru Munna Shukla for Kathak, Padma Bhushan Prof C.V Chandrasekhar for Bharatanatyam, Vidushi Smt R. Vedavalli  for Carnatic vocal and Guru Ghanakanta Bora for Sattriya dance. The proposed dates are from 6th  June 2012 to 6th July 2012.  

For submitting the application the candidate can use the above mentioned tentative list of Likely Gurus.  To apply the candidate should send his / her profile, along with a one page write-up on “Why I want to  go”. Candidates can download the form from the website (http://www.spicmacay.com) from Scholarship  Scheme link. Selected candidates will be called for interview. All final selected candidates for this scheme  will have to furnish a bond of Rs. 5,000/-, which will be refunded after successful completion of the tenure.  The scheme will commence in the months of May, June and July, each candidate will be required to stay  with the Guru for a month.

Rules and Regulations:

1. The scholarship entails staying with a guru for one month in summer. Travel expenses to and from the
guru’s residence (Second Class Sleeper) will be borne by SPIC MACAY.
2. Applications screened for the interview will be informed by email / phone, following which they will have
to present themselves at specified centers. Please note that travel expenses incurred for interviews will
have to be borne by the applicants.
3. While the selection panel does it’s utmost to place the applicants with one of the gurus of their choice,
this may not always be possible. In such cases, the decision of the panel in placing the student will be
