National Science Olympiad & Young Scientist Conclave 2018

Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore Campus, will host the First Annual National Science Olympiad and Young Scientist Conclave from December 1 - 3, 2018. All standard students can participate in our national science Olympiad & young scientist conclave.

Eligibility
Registration is mandatory. There shall be a teacher from your school as contact point for a team. One teacher can mentor multiple teams.
Upload your ideas explaining in not more than 600 words during registration.
You should justify the need of your solution for a problem faced by the society.
Team presenting best ideas are invited to present at Amrita campus, Coimbatore.

Any school student is eligible to participate.
Minimum two and Maximum number of students allowed per team is 5.

Projects should have novelty and use of technology. It can be an existing real time problem in and around your place.

Selection Process
In the first round, the team shall submit an abstract of not more than 500 words. Last date to submit abstract is on or before September 25th . Teams are notified about the acceptance within 5 days of the submission of the entry.
Only those abstracts accepted by the committee is moved to the second round. They shall submit the design and implementation plan in not more than two pages on or before 15th October. The document should explain what the team will present during the event on December 1 to 3 and how they plan to do the rest and it’s time frame. The entries shall be uploaded in EasyCHair.

200 best proposals are selected for the final round. Teams shall present their ideas onsite at Coimbatore Campus of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham during the event scheduled on December 1, 2, 3.

I am Kalam: All Kerala Science Exhibition

'I AM KALAM' is an all Kerala science exhibition for higher secondary students which is initiated by Mathrubhumi in collaboration with SRM University. The programme emphasizes on the practical aspects of education with the theme "science in society". The event is designed to find the next generation scientists and aims to promote and nurture science and scientific research among students. It provides a platform for them to showcase their creativity, applicability and talent. A state level exhibition like this allows every student to nurture his/her curiosity and learn better. Children with scientific temper will never stop questioning, observing physical reality, testing, analyzing and communicating. In an era of competition it's our duty to create such platforms for them.

Who can Participate?
 Any higher secondary student(10, 11 & 12th grade) can register online for the event with their own project. 

Selection process
The participants for the exhibition are selected from the registered students based on their project. The selection process is overseen by the experts in Kerala State Council for Science, Technology & Environment. First phase will be zonal level competition and the winners from the 6 zones become eligible for state rounds. 
The zonal level competition is going to held in January 2018 & Finales in February.

Judgement Parameters

Creativity / Innovative
Perhaps the best science project is one that you come up with creative idea. The creativity can lead to interesting projects.

Feasibility
A typical parameter to evaluate if the project is considered to be capable of being done or carried out.

Applicability
The applicability of the project is measured on how the information or knowledge gained in the project can be used.

Conclusion & Scope of further development.
This is where you answer your research question. Make it from the research and results of the experiment.

Accessibility
It is the level of convenience of the project and its usefulness for a variety of activities.

Originality
Originality is the property of a created piece of work as being new and it must illustrate or investigate some scientific idea.

Project knowledge & Presentation
Student should demonstrate and speak well all the aspects of his or her project. Present it with enthusiasm and confidence.

Measurable & Quantitative approach
A project only work when you properly collect and record your data. Keep it measurable and quantitative.

SCIRE SCINCE CONTEST: SCIENCE PROJECT CONTEST

Applications are invited for international level Science Project Contest Phase II/2018 on the Theme Natural disaster management.
 Interested students are requested to submit a project report on the theme or any related areas in the prescribed template available in the website, www.scire.co.in > Events & Services and send it to info@scire.co.in directly or through school authority on or before 15th July 2018.
The best project from each level will be selected and recognized. We look forward to the
active participation of the students and expect teachers and parents to encourage them for being a part of this contest. Participation certificate will be given to all the contestants. 

Who can participate: Students of Grade 5 to 12.

Theme: “NATURAL DISASTER MANAGEMENT”.

Last Date: 5th July 2017

Grade and Levels
The levels should be selected and specified in the application form as given below
Level 1: Grade 5-7
Level 2: Grade 8-10
Level 3: Grade 11-12

Interested participants are requested to transfer the stipulated registration fee and send the scanned copy of transfer proof along with the duly filled registration form and project report to info@scire.co.in on or before 15th July 2018.
