To commemorate and honor this event always in the future, 28th of February was asked to the then Government of India to designate as a National Science Day in India by the National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC) in the year 1986. Every year NCSTC announces a new theme to celebrate.

‘Discovery School Super League, 2018 (DSSL)’ – India’s BIGGEST National Level Inter School Contest being telecasted on Discovery Channel. DSSL is a critical thinking and aptitude-based competition that provides a unique platform for students to compete and win laurels for themselves and their schools.

Eligibility
Students from grade 4th to 9th are eligible for DSSL
Students from Grade 4th to 9th are divided into two categories: 1. Grade 4th to 6th: Category-1 2. Grade 7th to 9th : Category-2





The contest shall be conducted in three stages –

Stage 1 30 min MCQ based written test which will be conducted in your school - Two toppers (one in each category) qualify for stage 2

Stage 3 30 teams (One each from 29 states and Delhi NCR) will compete in a 6-episode Discovery TV Show to be shot in Mumbai - Top Three winning teams and their School Principals/Teachers win a NASA trip

The Schools can register for the Contest by filling a registration form available in the welcome kit which will be provided by the organizer or its designated partners.
The registration forms must be completed by the School in all respects. Only the registration forms that are duly signed, stamped and attested by the School authorities will be considered as valid entries to the Contest. The duly filled and stamped registration form shall be handed over by the School’s authorized representative to the organizer or its designated partners.

The registration form which is not duly filled with all the details, the same will be rejected and automatically disqualified. The decision of the organizer in this regard shall be final and binding.

The National Human Rights Commission was set up on the 12th October, 1993 under the Protection of Human Rights Act passed by Parliament. The functions and powers of the Commission with regard to promotion and protection of human rights in the country are elucidated in Section – 12, Chapter – III of the PHR Act available on the website of the Commission www.nhrc.nic.in. Besides taking cognizance of the complaints of human rights violations against a public servant and recommending payment of monetary relief to the victim and initiation of punitive action against the guilty government functionary, the Commission is also mandated to promote, research in the field of human rights, spread literacy about them through various means and functions.

The faith of the people in its functioning reflects in the increasing number of complaints it has been receiving over the years. The Commission is completing 25 years of its existence on the 12th October, 2018. It would want the people of the country to join the Commission in celebrating the silver jubilee of an institution dedicated to protecting and promoting their rights. Therefore, as part of a specific note of participation, the Commission requests all the people of the country to suggest a Logo for the NHRC, India to mark the occasion and participate in this online competition. There will be only one cash award of Rs. 50,000/- (Rupees Fifty Thousand only) for the sender of the winning entry, who will also be given a certificate besides the cash prize.

IR harbours about 8500 stations, runs nearly 21000 trains, serves around 2.3 crore passengers and transports 30 lakh tons of freight per day. About the logo and punchline creation contest

Indian Railways is seeking to replace IRSDC’s current logo (participants may visit www.irsdc.com to see the current logo of IRSDC shown in the top-left corner of the 'Home' page) with a new logo and punchline.
The logo and the punchline shall be required to be attractive and catchy, respectively, while depicting the ‘identity’ of IRSDC, as captured in the “Vision and Mission” and IRSDC’s 7 ‘C’s below

Ministry of Railways has taken unique initiative by giving the fans and those passionate about Indian Railways an opportunity to participate in a photography contest.

As part of this competition, rail enthusiasts are encouraged to upload photographs (having minimum resolution of 300 dpi and minimum size of 2MB) on MyGov Platform. The copyright of the submitted photographs will be with Indian Railways.

Selected photographs will be displayed at national level exhibitions at various metro stations of the country. Three lucky winners (each) at different levels, namely divisional level, zonal level and National level will be awarded with decent prize money. Each awardee will also be given certificate and free 3A pass along with one companion to and from their home locations to place of award ceremony.

IRSDC in partnership with MyGov, is launching a first-of-its-kind idea crowdsourcing competition– SRIJAN(Station Rejuvenation Initiative by Joint Action) to invite innovative, scalable, low-cost and high-impact ideas (ideally, retrofits minimizing significant construction work and/or capital cost unless justified by the value proposition) from stakeholders for upgrading the look and feel of the railway stations and thereby transform the functional utility, raise the revenue generation capacity and lower operations and maintenance cost of railway stations in the IR network.

REWARDS AND BENEFITS OF PARTICIPATING IN ‘SRIJAN’
‘SRIJAN’ is an unprecedented opportunity, as arguably, it shall be the world’s largest-ever transit-oriented-development and multi-modal-integration station development initiative encompassing more than 600 stations, to begin with. The winners shall receive letters of commendation, and due credits shall be given when the idea is implemented.

Further, the participants shortlisted in ‘SRIJAN’ may be given the opportunity to professionally associate with IRSDC.
