Novella is organising a national level short story writing contest.


Terms and Conditions

Stories uploaded on NOVELLA.CO.IN between 20th November, 2018 and 15th January, 2019 will be considered for the Competition
The Author is free to choose the theme, genre or topic for the Short Story.
The stories should be less than 2000 words.
The stories should be in ORIGINAL and in ENGLISH only; and should NOT be published or produced elsewhere.
Competition is open for all.
The competition will be held in three categories based on the age of author as on 15th January, 2019
Juniors - Below 14 years
Youth - 14 years and below 24 years
Seniors - 24 years and Above
One Author can submit more than one entry for this contest. Please note that each entry or submission will be judged separately.
Shortlisted Finalist will be announced on 20th January, 2019 on our website and all our social media channels

2019 Commonwealth Short Story Prize

The Commonwealth Short Story Prize  is awarded for the best piece of unpublished short fiction (2,000–5,000 words) in English. Regional winners receive £2,500 and the overall winner receives £5,000. Launched last year by Times of India with 11 leading Indian authors, Write India is a unique platform to inspire, encourage and evaluate good writing with the help of established authors. An unprecedented crowd-sourced short story contest, Write India attracts people of all ages and professions and has already turned many dreams into reality. Of the 111 winners declared for Season 1, 33 have already been printed, while many others are in the process of being published. Embarking on the second season, Write India is all set to uncover more of India’s story-telling potential with a panel of 10 star authors!

Last day of submission for Nikita Singh's contest is March 2. Entries will be accepted till midnight.

Write India Season 2 was launched on July 7, 2017 and is once again set to attract the best writing talent in India. Sir Jeffrey Archer and Ruskin Bond lead a starry line-up of 10 authors for Write India Season 2 -- Sudha Murty, Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni, Anand Neelakantan, Shobhaa De, Manu Joseph, Namita Gokhale, Nikita Singh and Twinkle Khanna. Sahithi Literature Award = Poetry and Short Story Contest

Stories and poems are invited for the fifth Sahithi award as part of the Inter university literature festival – Sahithi organized by the Faculty of Literature, Malayalam University .

Eligibility
College/University students from Kerala and outside may send in their entries along with a certificate issued by the head of the institution.

Prizes
The students who bag first and second places in the competition will be endowed with cash award, memento, and certificates.

Indumatee Media Student Awards 2015 for Short Story

Indumatee Media Student Awards for Short Story is now open for submissions to students currently enrolled in school/ college. 

Guidelines & Rules: 

1. The Short Story competition is open for School & College Students. Qualification is School Students of Classes 8th to 12th / Students pursuing ITI or Diploma/ College Students pursuing Graduate, B.E/ B. Tech, MBBS, LLB. 
2. Entries must be in Odialanguage and the original work of the student. 
3. No registration and no entry fee. 
4. The Short Story must be between 1200 and 1500 words.  
5. Short Stories may be about any topic and in any form and unpublished work
6. Short Stories should not be a translation of another writer’s work. 
7. Entry should be an individual effort and not a combined work. 
8. No alterations may be made to essay once submitted and your Short Story will not be returned, so please keep a copy. 
9. Please submit your work hand written or typed, single-sided with pages numbered and title as a header on first page and it should carry the name of the Author, Qualification, Father/ Guardian’s name, Address, Mobile/ Telephone number (along with STD code) and E- mail ID (optional)
10. The author will be solely responsible for any violation of the Copyright Act where the material submitted for the competition is not original. 
11. The Judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. 
12. We hold the rights to cancel any entry without any prior information and clarification. 
13. The Anthology publication will include 15 to 20 Short Stories. If your Short Story published in that year's anthology, you will be notified and we will ask you to send a photo of yourself and a brief biography, a hand written or typed cover letter i.e Statement of Endorsement stating that you are eligible, the name & address of your school or college and Statement of Authenticity
14. Closing date for receipt of entries is 25th June, 2015. Entries received after this date will not be considered. 
15. Winners will be notified via e-mail or by phone/ post. 
16. Please send your Short Stories by Post and mark your envelope “Indumatee Media Student Awards 2015 for Short Story” and send it to Akshaya Sahoo, C/o- Indumatee Media, Gajendrapur, Kalashree Gopalpur, Jajpur-754292, Odisha.
